My 2.5 year old daughter threw pomogranate all over, around the narrow bed gaps and in the window slits unable to regulate her anger after a few of them spill unintentionally after sneezing. It was quite a chaos
First of all, it got reiterated for us to be consistent with not giving such food around the bed :p
Secondly, we told her that we need to tidy up all of this which will take away our garden time
This is a natural consequence to her actions which she needs to experience
An unrelated punishment would have been taking away her favorite toy or giving her a timeout which would make no logical sense to her
Later I also reminded her that next time if something like this happens, she should try saying “Oopsie” and then let the it go
Letting children face natural consequences of their actions is a more effective way of helping them make sense of their actions and world than giving them unrelated punishments
