After studying all the boards and philosophies (Course by Harpreet Singh Grover, The Curious Parent), visiting multiple schools, researching and teaching children myself I’ve boiled it down to this:
Children are naturally curious and love learning
So I want to pick something which is largely student-led and not teacher-led. I believe teachers should facilitate the learning and not lead it
The only options for those around me are proper Montessori Schools or Open Schooling communities like Aarohi, democratic schools, etc
So going with Montessori for now (at least till age 12) given we as a family don’t have the bandwidth to commit to open learning weekly planning and routines
I’ve found Waldorf (from grade 1), IGCSE and even IB to be teacher-led, definitely less teacher-led than state and national boards, but still teacher-led
