Recent personal example:
Goal: Exercise thrice every week
Why: To ensure I’m able to lift my 2.5-year-old daughter. I had sprained my back twice before while doing this.
After exercising regularly for many months, I slipped on doing this due to a change in our daily routine.
I was used to doing Surya Namaskars.
One needs to follow certain rules before and after doing it (empty stomach, no food for 30 mins after, etc).
Once the routine changed, I could not follow the rules so I didn’t do it.
I feared not being able to pick up my daughter.
This pushed me to keep thinking about this and I figured, before Surya Namaskar, I was doing other exercises to strengthen my back which don’t need me to follow many rules.
I have immediately jumped back to doing those. I’m back to regular exercise now.
I also figured out one 2-minute exercise to do daily just before sleeping.
